Staffed with highly trained IT experts, therapists, and specialist doctors with a focus on:

  • Rehabilitation which will include physical, occupational, aquatics, and speech therapy
  • Specialized medical consultations and interventions through rotating visiting medical specialists 
  • Video conferencing capabilities to facilitate virtual consultations and online training
  • Standardized stroke assessment using a Neuro/Stroke Assessment Tool adapted to the local situation
  • Improving data collection methodologies through Health Information Management Systems that track data and case management to improve outcomes of patients in Dominica
  • Implementation of a quality standard to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care
  • Inclusion of in and outpatient care

Collaboration & advocacy programs with the Ministry of Health, Primary Health Care Services and The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, Youth at Risk, Gender Affairs, Seniors Security and Dominicans with Disabilities to provide training and tools for the District Health Centers/Community Health Aides, Ministry of National Security (Ambulance) and The Yes You Care Caregivers. This will enable:

  •  Skills transfer and improve the level of care for at-home patients in the out districts.
  • Awareness for the need for accessible sidewalks, building access ramps, etc.

A comprehensive training certification program for care givers which encompasses continuing education credits. Training will focus on; Health Education; Diet/Nutrition/Medications – the interactions; FAST (Face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, time to call emergency); Public Health, Health Education, Ambulance – patient transfers. Partnering with the Dominica State College for in class and distance learning for front line, medical Unit, Emergency Dept and the out districts will be a priority.

  • Support for stroke survivors who require specialist emotional support interventions for psychological interventions after stroke.

Registry of Professionals – A network and database of local, regional, and international qualified care givers, therapists, medical specialists, and trainers.  Special emphasis on establishing working relationships with Ross University Alumni, and Raymond’s graduating class.  This network will be critical for in center and off-site services and well as to facilitate virtual specialist consultations.

Partnerships with external agencies and funders for collaboration on services and program funding.

Develop informational videos on risks and preventative tips for distribution within the center and other waiting rooms within the hospital, pharmacies and at doctor offices · Develop or procure pictorial bilingual (English and Creole) brochures, posters, flyers, pamphlets for distribution in doctor offices, health centers, churches, emergency room (waiting rooms) (consider translations in patios) · Participate in Radio & TV programs that promote health and wellness

Services

At the RayAsta Foundation, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive stroke care services. Our initiatives range from educating the public about stroke prevention to supporting stroke survivors and their families through our rehabilitation and recovery programs. We also offer emotional support and caregiver training.
